VicBudget Privacy Policy
VicBudget is a personal finance app built to keep your data private. Your financial records are stored on your device and are encrypted at rest. We do not operate servers that collect your financial data, and we do not sell your data. This policy explains what information is involved, how it is used, and your choices.
1. Information you enter
You create and store the following in the app, on your device:
- Transactions (income and expenses)
- Budgets
- Accounts
- Assets and liabilities
- Categories, transfers, recurring items, and reminders you set
This information is stored locally in an encrypted database on your device. It is not transmitted to VicSync.
2. Google Account information (authentication)
If you choose to sign in with Google, we use your basic Google Account information — your name and email address — only to authenticate you and to enable optional backup to your own Google Drive. Signing in is optional; the app is fully usable without it. We do not use this information for advertising or profiling.
3. Google Drive access (optional backup and restore)
If you choose to back up to Google Drive, VicBudget requests access to the Google Drive application-data folder (the drive.appdata scope). This is a hidden, per-app area of your Google Drive.
- We use this access only to store and retrieve a single password-encrypted VicBudget backup file, so you can back up and restore your data.
- The app cannot see, read, list, or modify any of your other Google Drive files.
- The backup is encrypted on your device with a password you choose before it is uploaded. Without that password it cannot be read — including by us.
4. How your data is stored and used
- On-device: your financial data lives in an encrypted local database and is used only to provide the app's features to you.
- In transit: Google Sign-In and Google Drive communication use secure HTTPS connections to Google.
- No analytics or ads: the app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking components.
5. Sharing
We do not share your data with third parties. The only external service involved is Google, and only when you choose to use Google Sign-In and Google Drive backup — in which case your interaction is directly between the app and your own Google Account, under Google's terms.
6. We do not sell your data
VicSync does not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information to anyone, for any purpose.
7. Security
- The on-device database is encrypted at rest.
- Backups are protected with strong password-based encryption before leaving your device.
- An optional app lock (PIN and biometric unlock) can be enabled to restrict access to the app.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we apply the protections described above to keep your data safe.
8. Retention and deletion
Because your data is stored on your device (and, if you enable it, in your own Google Drive app-data folder), you control its retention. You can delete it at any time:
- In the app: Settings → Data Management → Reset all data, or Settings → Account Setting → Delete account (which also disconnects your Google Account).
- Your Google Drive backup can be removed from your Google Drive. See the Data deletion page for step-by-step instructions.
See how to delete your VicBudget data for full details.
9. Google API Services User Data Policy & Limited Use
VicBudget's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, data obtained through Google Sign-In and the Google Drive application-data scope is used only to provide and improve the app's backup and restore feature that is prominent to you; it is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide that feature, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger with your consent; it is not used for advertising; and no humans read your data except with your explicit consent, to comply with law, or for security purposes.
10. Children
VicBudget is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
